Rajaraman Padmanabhan
I am a graduate student in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India in 2015. My research interests include the study of issues related to energy efficiency, demand response (DR) and optimal load control strategies. Demand response plays a crucial role in the management of peak demand and provides benefits to both customers and the system operators. In light of recent events such as the implementation of the clean power plan, sustainable and cost-effective solutions such as DR could play an important role in the electric power system and my interest lies in the study of those impacts. More specifically, I am interested in federal policies, industrial and market issues related to demand response resources (DRRs), and their impacts in the wholesale and retail electricity markets.
